FAQ's About Inflatable Hot Tubs


Many people have a great number of questions regarding inflatable hot tubs. They may have heard of this item but they do not know a lot about them. Below is a list of some of the most commonly asked questions.

Question: How many jets do inflatable hot tubs have?

Answer: Most inflatable hot tubs offer no less than one hundred jets. This number varies depending on the brand and the size of the tub. 

Question: What kind of jets do normal hot tubs have?

Answer: Most standard tubs have water jets. A special pump forces the water through the wipes and out the jets to create the massaging effect. 

Question: What kind of jets do these tubs have?

Answer: Inflatable hot tubs are often equipped with air jets. These jets circulate the water in a similar fashion to those found in normal tubs. There are a few models of inflatable tubs that do offer both kinds of jets. 

Question: Do you have to use chemicals in an inflatable tub?


Answer: Most manufactures will recommend that you always use chemicals in your tub. One of the primary reasons to put chemicals in a hot tub is to sanitize it. Chemicals not only help to kill all kinds of organic materials but they help to reduce odors that are emitted by a tub. If you are only planning to have the tub up and in use for a few hours chemicals may not be required however it is always best to add the proper chemicals when the tub is being operated.

Question: Can you sit on the edge of the tub?

Answer: Yes, most tubs are sturdy enough to support the weight of a person sitting on the edge.

Question: How much does a tub weigh?

Answer: Once again this is going to depend on the size of the tub that you obtain. A two person tub that holds 210 gallons of water will weigh about 1750 lbs when filled. When the tub is completely dry and empty it will weigh about 65 lbs.

Question: How big are these tubs?

Answer: Most inflatable tubs are either two man or four man. They have comfortable seats that will allow four adults to use the tub at the same time.

Question: What kind of chemicals do I have to use in the tub?

Answer: There are three kinds of chemicals that are generally used to sanitize hot tubs; Chlorine, Bromine and Biguanide. Each one has its advantages and its disadvantages. The most commonly used one is the bromide.

Question: Where can chemicals be purchased?

Answer: Hot tub chemicals can be purchased in any specialty spa store. They are also becoming available in many major chains and online.

Question: What are the tubs made from?

Answer: Many tubs are made with a laminated PVC and polyester blend. This material is very thick and durable.

Question: How hot can these tubs get?

Answer: Most inflatable not tubs can reach a maximum temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature can be controlled in my tubs by the use of a digital thermostat control.

Question: What kind of filter do these tubs use?

Answer: Many models employ the same kind of filter that is used by a standard tub. They employ an easy to remove filter cartridge. Changing a cartridge only take a couple of minutes.

Question: How often does the filter need to be changed?

Answer: That is going to depend on how often the tub is used. Most tub manufactures advice that the filter cartridges be changed every few weeks. To prolong the life of filters cartridges you can remove and clean them.
